ISLAMABAD (Khyber Mail): Former Chief of Air Staff (CAS) of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Hakimullah NI (M), SJ. passed away at PAF Hospital in Islamabad after a long battle with illness.
Born on October 15, 1935, ACM Hakimullah had a distinguished career in the PAF. He served as the 12th Chief of Air Staff from March 9, 1988, to March 8, 1991. His exceptional service to the country earned him the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Jurat.
ACM Hakimullah hailed from Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He was a proud member of the Durrani clan and was born to Mr. Habib Ullah Durrani. His full name was Hakeemullah Khan Durrani. He completed his schooling from Government High School NO. 1 Charsadda and intermediate from Government College Charsadda.
He was awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat for his valor and leadership in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Subsequently, he commanded No. 33 Wing, the Combat Commanders School, and Rafiqui Airbase.
His funeral service will be held at 1500 hrs on February 24, 2024, in his native village Sheikh Kali, located on Charsadda Road, Charsadda. The service will be followed by his burial.
