Dear Editor,
I’m writing to bring to your attention a critical issue regarding the flood protection project for Koti Sadat and the adjoining areas, including Surrani. While the project has been approved, construction has been halted due to unreasonable demands from certain influential figures (sharpasads) in the Surrani area.
The Irrigation Department has already requested intervention from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Police Officer (DPO) of Bannu to resolve this matter. However, their response has been insufficient.
It’s crucial to address this issue promptly. There’s a real risk that the Asian Bank might reallocate the project funds to other areas within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), leaving Bannu permanently vulnerable to floods.
Therefore, I urge all local leaders in Surrani and the district government to work collaboratively to ensure the project’s successful completion. This project is vital for safeguarding the lives and property of our communities in Koti Sadat and the surrounding areas.
Let’s work together to prevent this critical flood protection initiative from being lost.
