Rawalpindi (Agencies): To honor Olympian Arshad Nadeem’s historic achievement, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir hosted a ceremony at the Army Auditorium GHQ. The event was attended by various sports teams and legendary Olympians, including members of the 1984 Olympic and National Hockey Teams, the National Cricket Team, the Street Football Team, the Army Polo Team, the Visually Impaired Cricket and Women Goal Ball Teams, as well as medal winners from the Commonwealth, SAF, and Asian Games, and participants of the Paris Olympics 2024. Notable legends such as Jehangir Khan, Islah Ud Din, Shahbaz Senior, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Asif, and Aisam-ul-Haq were also present. Arshad Nadeem’s close relatives, associates, and coaches attended the event as well.
COAS appreciated Arshad Nadeem’s remarkable achievement of winning Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in a singles event and setting a new Olympic record. He attributed this success to Arshad’s commitment, perseverance, and passion for excellence. The Army Chief highlighted Arshad’s inspirational journey from humble beginnings to achieving greatness, emphasizing the importance of hard work and determination.
Recognizing Arshad Nadeem’s achievement as a national pride, COAS highlighted that he has been honored by the entire nation. He reaffirmed the commitment to support and empower not only sportsmen but the entire youth of Pakistan to achieve excellence and contribute to a prosperous Pakistan.
