Beirut, Lebanon (Agencies): Senior American officers have reported that Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, has been declared KIA—Killed in Action.
This announcement follows a pinpoint airstrike by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Hezbollah’s main headquarters in Beirut, located under residential buildings in the Dahiyeh neighborhood.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed the strike, stating, “The IDF has just carried out a pinpoint strike on the central headquarters of the Hezbollah terrorist organization … The headquarters was deliberately built under residential buildings in the center of the Dahiyeh neighborhood in Beirut.”
Despite the precision of the strike, Al Arabiya reported that the attempt to eliminate Nasrallah failed, and his fate remains unclear according to Israeli Channel 13.
The airstrike led to about 10 strong explosions in Beirut, causing significant panic and damage.
Car alarms went off, and smoke was seen in the southern suburbs of the city.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health’s Emergency Response Center reported that two people were killed and 76 others injured, with at least six buildings collapsing due to the force of the explosions.
This attack marks the most powerful strike on Beirut in nearly a year of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The IDF’s bombing campaign, codenamed Northern Arrows, has resulted in over 1,500 deaths in southern and eastern parts of Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
In retaliation, Hezbollah has fired dozens of rockets toward northern Israel.
In light of these events, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to cut short his visit to the United States and return to Israel.
His office confirmed that he is scheduled to fly back on Friday evening. The situation remains tense as both sides brace for further escalations.
