MARDAN (Khyber Mail): Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) achieved a significant milestone by securing official accreditation for its Agriculture programs from the National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council (NAEAC) Pakistan, under the Higher Education Commission Pakistan (HEC). This recognition underscores AWKUM’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and nurturing future leaders in Agricultural Sciences.
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at AWKUM organized a certificates distribution ceremony to honor the accredited departments:
- Department of Agronomy (X2 Category)
- Department of Entomology (X2 Category)
- Department of Food Science & Technology (X3 Category)
- Department of Horticulture (X3 Category)
The accreditation reflects AWKUM’s adherence to high academic standards, cutting-edge facilities, and a curriculum designed to tackle contemporary challenges in Agriculture. Notably, the Heads of these departments shared NAEAC’s recommendations for further program enhancement, aiming to achieve the coveted “W category” in Agricultural Sciences.
Among the key suggestions were the development of essential infrastructure for student training, including greenhouses, seed stores, machinery facilities, and dedicated research land.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah praised the faculty and students of these departments, emphasizing AWKUM’s ongoing efforts to elevate educational quality across all disciplines.
