Karachi (Khyber Mail): In a significant move to enhance the security of Chinese nationals, a high-level meeting led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Commandant Special Protection Unit (SPU), Sindh, has mandated the replacement of all private security guards with ex-servicemen from the Police, Army, Navy, Air Force, Rangers, or FC.
This decision comes amid concerns about numerous CPEC and non-CPEC projects employing untrained civilian staff and private security guards who do not adhere to the Ministry of Interior’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The meeting underscored the security risks posed by employing untrained private security guards, citing past incidents where such guards were involved in crimes. To mitigate these risks, the directive requires project owners to replace private security guards with trained ex-servicemen within seven days, or face legal action. Reputable security firms like Police Foundation, Ranger Securities, FC, and Askari Securities are recommended to provide the necessary trained personnel.
The initiative aims to ensure better compliance with security protocols and enhance the safety of Chinese nationals involved in various projects across the region.
