PESHAWAR (Agencies): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), visited Peshawar on Friday to review the prevailing security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the region. The visit follows the National Apex Committee meeting held on November 19 and precedes the upcoming Provincial Apex Committee meeting.
During his visit, the COAS was briefed on the current security challenges and the progress of the military’s counter-terrorism operations. The session was attended by key figures, including the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and senior field commanders.
General Munir paid tribute to the martyrs (Shuhada) and the veterans (Ghazis) for their sacrifices, noting that their dedication is the backbone of Pakistan’s national resilience. He emphasized that the sacrifices made by the armed forces and law enforcement agencies inspire unwavering commitment in defending the nation.
The COAS also lauded the operational readiness and high morale of the troops, who are continuously working to neutralize all threats to national security. He reiterated the Pakistan Army’s resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and eliminate elements that threaten the country’s stability.
“We will continue our synchronized and robust operations, in collaboration with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), to root out terrorism and ensure long-term peace and security for the people of Pakistan,” General Munir stated.
Upon his arrival in Peshawar, the COAS was received by the Corps Commander, Peshawar.
