Peshawar (Khyber Mail): A Women’s Center of Excellence has been inaugurated at the Institute of Management Sciences (IM Sciences) in Peshawar under Team Europe’s TVET Sector Support Programme. The initiative aims to equip women with advanced skills in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Internet of Things, and Data Science to strengthen their participation in Pakistan’s growing digital economy.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Tuesday, was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Industries, Abdul Karim Tordher, as the chief guest. European Union Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka and British Council Country Director James Hampson were also present at the event.

Speaking at the launch, Tordher emphasized the importance of the Center in addressing gender disparities and providing sustainable opportunities in hi-tech fields. “The Centres of Excellence are a transformative initiative that will empower women across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan with the skills needed to excel in the rapidly evolving digital landscape,” he stated.
The Women’s Center of Excellence will offer globally accredited training programs, aiming to train over 2,000 women in more than 50 modern digital skills, including data science, artificial intelligence, mobile application development, and web design. The initiative will also support marginalized groups, including refugees, ensuring they have access to future-ready skills and remote work opportunities.
The program is expected to encourage more women to pursue careers in technology and digital fields, fostering gender equality and economic independence in the region.
