Washington (Agencies): US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he has selected Michel Issa to be the US ambassador to Lebanon. Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social account, praising Issa as “an outstanding businessman, a financial expert, and a leader with a remarkable career in Banking, Entrepreneurship, and International Trade.”
Issa’s nomination is part of a broader set of ambassadorial appointments, including Amer Ghalib as the US ambassador to Kuwait and Duke Buchan as the US ambassador to Morocco. All ambassadorial nominations require Senate confirmation before the nominees can assume their posts.
Michel Issa is renowned for his extensive background in banking, entrepreneurship, and international trade. His appointment is expected to strengthen the diplomatic ties between the United States and Lebanon, fostering economic and political cooperation.
In addition to Issa’s nomination, Trump also announced the appointment of Lynda Blanchard as the US ambassador to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), headquartered in Rome. Blanchard previously served as the US ambassador to Slovenia during Trump’s first term.
The selection of Michel Issa as the US ambassador to Lebanon underscores the administration’s commitment to appointing experienced and accomplished individuals to key diplomatic positions.
