Islamabad (Khyber Mail): The China Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), in collaboration with China Media Group (CMG), organized a seminar titled “China in Spring: China’s Opportunities, Shared by the World.” The event focused on the outcomes of China’s recently concluded ‘Two Sessions,’ which chart the country’s course for governance, economic growth, and global engagement.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General ISSI, welcomed the participants, including Ambassador Jiang Zaidong. He emphasized the significance of China’s ‘Two Sessions,’ noting their role in shaping economic policies, fostering high-tech industries, and setting a 5% GDP growth target for 2025. He underscored the transformative impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and highlighted new initiatives in trade, regional connectivity, and job creation. Stressing the resilience of Pakistan-China relations, he called for enhanced collaboration to overcome challenges.
Keynote speaker Ambassador Masood Khan highlighted the strategic and economic depth of Pakistan-China relations, emphasizing CPEC’s evolution to include social development and people-to-people exchanges. He praised China’s global rise and its leadership in fostering economic cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Addressing regional security, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve in combating terrorism and emphasized the need for strengthened narratives to enhance bilateral ties.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Jiang Zaidong, hailed the enduring friendship between the two nations, emphasizing collaboration in areas like space technology, green energy, and modernization. He highlighted China’s economic resilience, $3.6 trillion in tech-driven innovation, and leadership in global poverty alleviation and skill development. He called for continued efforts to expand cooperation under CPEC and other strategic initiatives.
The seminar also featured insights from Ambassador Naghmana Hashmi, Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, and Dr. Talat Shabbir, who underscored China’s focus on sustainability, technological advancement, and global partnerships. They highlighted the opportunities these developments present for Pakistan.
The event was attended by diplomats, scholars, policy experts, and media professionals, reflecting significant interest in Pakistan-China collaboration and the global implications of China’s development initiatives.
