Algiers (Agencies): Algeria has officially become the first international customer for Russia’s advanced Sukhoi Su-57 “Felon” combat aircraft, according to reports from Algerian national media. This acquisition marks a significant step in Algeria’s efforts to modernize its military and deepen its long-standing defense ties with Moscow. Reports indicate that Algeria has purchased up to 14 units of the Su-57E, the export version of Russia’s fifth-generation stealth fighter.
The announcement seemingly confirms earlier statements from Russian officials in 2024, who had indicated that a first foreign buyer for the aircraft had been secured.
