Vienna (Agencies): Austrian authorities have arrested a 14-year-old boy suspected of planning an attack at Vienna’s Westbahnhof railway station and possessing materials indicating support for the Daesh group, the Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday.

The arrest, which occurred on February 10, was prompted by intelligence tips regarding a Daesh supporter posting extremist content on several TikTok profiles. The suspect, an Austrian citizen with Turkish roots, was found carrying a knife at the time of his arrest.

During a search of his home, investigators discovered Islamic extremist literature, sketches detailing potential knife and machete attacks targeting a railway station and police officers, and handwritten instructions for creating an explosive detonator. Additional bomb-making materials and knives were uncovered in the building’s basement.

The teenager has refused to cooperate during initial questioning, authorities said.

This arrest comes shortly after a separate incident on February 11 in Villach, southern Austria, where a 23-year-old Syrian man—who reportedly had potential Daesh ties—was arrested for a stabbing spree that left one teenager dead and five others injured.

Austrian authorities continue to investigate both cases amid concerns over rising extremism and public safety threats.
