Washington, D.C. (Agencies): The Biden administration has approved the sale of MH-60R Multi-Mission Helicopter Equipment and related items to India at an estimated cost of $1.17 billion. This approval comes just weeks before the end of Biden’s four-year term.

The proposed sale aims to enhance India’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities, improving its ability to deter current and future threats. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of the decision, highlighting the strategic importance of the deal.

President-elect Donald Trump is set to be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on January 20, 2025. According to the notification, India has requested to purchase 30 Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio Systems (MIDS-JTRS), along with advanced data transfer systems, external fuel tanks, forward-looking infrared (FLIR) systems, and other related equipment.

The principal contractor for this sale will be Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems. Implementation of the sale will require travel of up to 20 US Government or up to 25 contractor representatives to India for program technical support and management oversight.
