Beijing, China (Agencies): China has imposed sanctions on 13 US defense companies and six senior executives in response to arms sales to Taiwan.
The sanctions, announced on December 5, 2024, target firms involved in the manufacturing of drones, artificial intelligence, and military communications.
The affected companies include Raytheon, Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Teledyne Brown Engineering.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian stated that the US arms sales to Taiwan seriously violate the “one-China” principle and severely interfere in China’s internal affairs.
The sanctions will freeze the assets of the companies in China and prohibit organizations and individuals from cooperating with them.
The move comes amid heightened tensions between China and Taiwan, with Beijing claiming sovereignty over the island and considering it a rebel province.
The US has been a major arms supplier to Taiwan, which has long been governed autonomously.
China’s actions underscore its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and it has urged the US to stop arming Taiwan and fulfill its commitment not to support Taiwan independence
