BALTIMORE (Agencies): Divers are poised to resume their search for six individuals who are missing and presumed dead following the collapse of a bridge in the US city of Baltimore. The tragic incident occurred when a container ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge, where six workers were on the deck. Among the missing is Miguel Luna, originally from El Salvador, who was working on the bridge at the time of the crash.
The bridge snapped and plunged into the Patapsco River on Tuesday around 01:30 ET (05:30 GMT) after the Dali container ship collided with it. The vessel had lost power and issued a distress call moments before the collision, but its speed prevented a change of course.
President Biden has pledged that the US government will cover the entire cost of rebuilding the bridge, which has become a symbol of tragedy and loss in Baltimore.
