Washington, D.C. (Agencies): Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, marking a historic comeback to the White House. During the ceremony at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, Trump pledged to usher in a “golden age” for America through sweeping changes addressing immigration, energy, and social policies.
With one hand on a Bible gifted by his mother, Trump took the oath of office, declaring January 20 as “Liberation Day” and promising a “complete restoration of America and revolution of common sense.”
In a speech laced with bold proclamations, Trump announced immediate executive orders, including a national emergency at the southern border to halt illegal immigration and designate cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. He also pledged to reinstate his “Remain in Mexico” policy and deploy troops to secure the border.
Trump declared a “national energy emergency”, vowing to maximize fossil fuel production with the mantra, “Drill, baby, drill.” He promised to roll back green energy policies, repeal the electric vehicle mandate, and revive the U.S. manufacturing and energy sectors to make America a “rich nation” again.
On social and cultural issues, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to free speech, announcing an executive order to halt government censorship. He declared that the official policy of the United States would recognize only two genders: male and female. He also promised to reinstate service members discharged for opposing Covid-19 vaccine mandates and end “radical political theories” in the military.
Trump pledged to rebuild the U.S. military into the “strongest the world has ever seen” while emphasizing his role as a “peacemaker and unifier.” He cited recent progress, such as the release of Middle Eastern hostages, as proof of his administration’s diplomatic success.
In an audacious move, Trump announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America,” reclaim the Panama Canal, and plant the U.S. flag on Mars, calling it a symbol of American ambition and destiny.
Reflecting on his journey back to the presidency, Trump said, “Many thought my comeback was impossible, but America thrives on achieving the impossible.”
Trump’s second term begins with significant promises, setting the stage for what he calls a transformative era for the United States.
