Munich (Agencies): A car rammed into a group of people in Munich on Thursday, injuring several individuals near the city’s central train station, local police confirmed. The driver was arrested and the area was secured, with authorities assuring that the driver no longer poses any danger.

While the exact number of injuries has not been disclosed, the Bild newspaper reported that 15 people were injured. The incident occurred just a day before the highly anticipated Munich Security Conference, which will see the arrival of US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Authorities have not provided details on whether the incident was deliberate, but regional public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) reported that the victims were likely participating in a demonstration linked to a strike organized by the Verdi union. The union, however, stated that it has no information on the incident.

A large-scale police operation was underway near the central train station, with heightened security measures in place due to the upcoming security conference. The incident has raised concerns about safety and security in the city, especially with global leaders arriving for the summit.

The situation remains under investigation, and authorities continue to work to verify the details of the incident.
