Troisdorf, Germany (Agencies): An explosion occurred at a Diehl Defence explosives factory in Troisdorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, resulting in serious injuries to two workers.
The incident took place in a building belonging to one of Diehl Defence’s subsidiaries, likely Dynitec or DynaEnergetics.
The explosion happened around 9:30 a.m. local time during a quality check, causing significant damage to the building. Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and rescue helicopters, responded promptly to the scene. The injured workers, aged 26 and 61, were airlifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, which is currently believed to be a workplace accident.
The Health and Safety Department has been notified, and there are no indications of criminal activity.
