HELSINKI (Agencies): In a significant move, the Finnish parliament has unanimously approved a Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the United States.

The agreement grants the US access to 15 military facilities within Finland. Under the terms of the DCA, US aircraft, ships, and vehicles will be permitted to enter and move within Finnish territory.

Finland will also provide protection, security, and safeguarding for US forces operating in the designated sites and areas.

Importantly, the agreement does not imply a permanent US presence in Finland; any foreign troops deployed will be stationed on a rotational basis.

Finland joined the North Atlantic Alliance on April 4 2023.
