Kathmandu (Agencies): A helicopter crash in central Nepal on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of all five people on board, including the pilot and four Chinese tourists. The Air Dynasty chopper, which was en route from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, lost contact with air traffic control just three minutes after takeoff. The crash occurred in the Nuwakot district, north of the capital.
Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the loss of contact and the subsequent crash. A rescue helicopter was dispatched immediately, but unfortunately, all five individuals were found deceased at the crash site.
Nepal’s aviation sector has faced numerous safety challenges over the years, with a history of deadly crashes involving light planes and helicopters. The country’s difficult terrain and insufficient training and maintenance have contributed to these issues. The European Union has banned all Nepali carriers from its airspace due to ongoing safety concerns.
