New Delhi (Agencies): In a day of aviation mishaps, two Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft were involved in separate incidents on March 7, 2025. An AN-32 transport aircraft made a crash landing at Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, while a Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed in Haryana’s Ambala district during a routine training sortie.

The AN-32 transport aircraft reportedly lost communication with other IAF aircraft before reaching its target area but managed to make a crash landing at Bagdogra Airport. Fortunately, the crew escaped unhurt. Efforts are underway to recover the aircraft, and an official statement from the IAF confirmed the incident, stating, “An accident involving an AN-32 transport aircraft at Bagdogra airport has come to light today. The aircraft is being recovered from the site. The crew of the aircraft is safe.”

Meanwhile, a Jaguar fighter aircraft suffered a system malfunction during a training mission in Ambala and crashed. The pilot managed to eject safely and maneuvered the aircraft away from populated areas to prevent any casualties. The IAF stated, “A Jaguar aircraft of the IAF crashed at Ambala, during a routine training sortie today, after encountering a system malfunction. The pilot maneuvered the aircraft away from any habitation on the ground before ejecting safely.”
Authorities have ordered a court of inquiry to investigate the cause of both incidents. The IAF emphasized its commitment to operational safety and assured that necessary measures are being taken to address potential issues and prevent future accidents.
These incidents highlight the operational challenges faced by the IAF, underscoring the importance of rigorous maintenance protocols and continuous training to ensure the safety of both aircraft and personnel.
