Tel Aviv (Agencies): The Israel Ministry of Defense has signed a landmark $5.2 billion deal to acquire 25 advanced F-15 fighter jets from Boeing. This agreement, part of a larger U.S. aid package, includes an option for an additional 25 aircraft.
The deal was finalized following extensive negotiations between the Israel Ministry of Defense’s Mission to the U.S. and Boeing, in collaboration with the Israeli Air Force.
The new F-15IA fighter jets, which are the Israeli variant of the advanced F-15EX, will be delivered starting in 2031, with 4-6 jets supplied annually.
These aircraft will be equipped with cutting-edge weapon systems, including the integration of state-of-the-art Israeli technologies.
The upgraded aircraft will feature enhanced range capabilities, increased payload capacity, and improved performance across various operational scenarios.
Key features of the F-15IA fighter jet include:
- Hypersonic Speed: Capable of traveling at speeds greater than Mach 2.5, making it difficult to intercept.
- Advanced Navigation System: Equipped with sophisticated technology that allows mid-flight adjustments in trajectory and speed.
- High Maneuverability: The missile can change its course and speed, enhancing its ability to evade enemy defenses.
- Dual Target Engagement: Capable of striking both land and sea targets with high precision.
- Anti-Access/Area Denial (A2/AD) Capabilities: Designed to deny enemy forces access to specific areas and protect critical assets.
- Strategic Reach: With a range exceeding 350 kilometers, it significantly extends Israel’s offensive and defensive capabilities.
- Digital Cockpit: Features a state-of-the-art digital cockpit with advanced helmet display and fly-by-wire systems.
- Upgraded Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems: Equipped with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar and advanced missile warning systems.
- Enhanced Communication: Improved communication capabilities with F-35 jets.
Increased Payload Capacity: Capable of carrying up to 24 air-to-air missiles and a variety of bombs and missiles.
