Islamabad, Pakistan (Agencies): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has appointed Khurram Mushtaq as the acting CEO.

The decision was made during a meeting of the PIA Board of Directors, following the end of Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat’s tenure.

Khurram Mushtaq, one of PIA’s senior-most executives, brings extensive experience in aviation to his new role.

Previously, Mushtaq served as PIA’s Chief Projects Officer and Head of Security, as well as the head of Commercial, Airport Services, Flight Services, and Vigilance departments. His appointment comes at a crucial time as PIA prepares to resume flights to Europe after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) lifted its ban on the airline.

The airline aims to resume flights to Europe, starting with Paris, within the next three to four weeks. Mushtaq’s leadership is expected to guide PIA through its ongoing challenges and operational strategies.
