Kuwait City (Agencies): The Kuwaiti Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of TV host Fajr Al-Saeed for 21 days and referred her to the Central Prison for calling to normalize relations with Israel. Local media reported that the Ministry of the Interior filed a complaint against Al-Saeed, accusing her of harming national interests and violating Kuwait’s Unified Law for Boycotting Israel No. 21 of 1964, which criminalizes any dealings or calls for normalization with Israel.

Al-Saeed is scheduled to appear before a detention renewal judge in the coming days to consider releasing her on bail until her trial. In 2021, the Kuwaiti Parliament unanimously approved a bill prohibiting normalization with Israel, and according to Kuwaiti law, Israel is considered an enemy state.

The case has sparked significant debate and controversy within Kuwait and beyond, highlighting the ongoing tensions surrounding the issue of normalization with Israel.
