TEHRAN (Agencies): Baluchi militants launched an assault on a police station in southeastern Iran early Friday, resulting in the tragic death of 11 security personnel and injuring several others, as reported by state television. The attack took place in the town of Rask within the Sistan-Baluchestan province, known for its impoverished conditions.
In the aftermath of the assault, clashes ensued, leading to the deaths of several members of the militant group Jaish al-Adl. Situated near the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Sistan-Baluchestan has been a frequent hotspot for conflicts involving security forces, militants, and drug smugglers.
Jaish al-Adl, the militant group responsible for the attack, has claimed responsibility for various incidents targeting Iranian security forces in the province. The group asserts its mission is to advocate for greater rights and improved living conditions for the ethnic minority Baluchis in the region.
