DHAKA (Khyber Mail): Abdul Samad Dawood, CEO of Engro Holdings Pakistan, engaged with Bangladesh’s top leadership during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Thursday. The discussions focused on expanding Engro’s footprint in Bangladesh, particularly in the telecommunications and energy sectors.
Dawood expressed enthusiasm for Bangladesh’s growing telecommunications industry and highlighted potential partnerships to distribute gas from Bhola to fuel industrial growth. “We are excited about the potential in Bangladesh’s telecommunications sector, and we also see great promise in partnering to help distribute gas from Bhola,” he remarked.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus welcomed Engro’s interest, stressing the importance of sustainable, forward-looking projects that improve lives. “We should focus on long-term projects that bring improvements to the lives of our people,” he stated, emphasizing the need for meaningful collaboration.
Dawood, who attended the Bangladesh Investment Summit hosted by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), commended the four-day event as a platform for showcasing business opportunities. “The BIDA Summit had a human touch—it felt sincere, welcoming, and purposeful,” he said, noting the strong representation of top companies.
Professor Yunus invited Engro’s leadership to explore additional opportunities in Bangladesh, emphasizing the country’s vast potential. “I invite you to come again. Bangladesh has a lot to offer—not just to investors, but to the world,” he added.
The meeting was attended by Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy for International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi, SDG Coordinator Lamiya Morshed, and Principal Secretary Sirajuddin Sathi, underlining the significance of the dialogue. This engagement is expected to pave the way for stronger economic ties and collaborative projects between Engro and Bangladesh in the near future.
