ISLAMABAD (Khyber Mail): Ethiopia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation on multilateral platforms to promote mutual peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

This development came during a high-level meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad between H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), and H.E. Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
During the meeting, both dignitaries discussed key areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, aviation, technology, and climate change. They expressed a strong resolve to build deeper, more dynamic partnerships across these sectors to benefit both nations.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal extended warm congratulations to Pakistan on its recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2025. He also briefed the SAPM on Ethiopia’s sweeping political, economic, and social reforms led by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, grounded in the “Medemer” philosophy—an ethos focused on national unity, collective potential, and inter-generational collaboration.
Highlighting the symbolic importance of the newly established Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, Dr. Jemal emphasized that it exemplifies Ethiopia’s commitment to forging stronger international ties through collaborative diplomacy.
In response, SAPM Tariq Fatemi praised Ethiopia’s growing role in regional and international peace and security, and commended its rapid economic development under Prime Minister Abiy’s leadership. He assured Pakistan’s full support in deepening both bilateral engagements and multilateral cooperation.
To mark the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Jemal presented a copy of the book Generation Medemer, authored by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, to Mr. Fatemi.
The meeting concluded with a shared vision to foster long-term strategic collaboration and promote a unified approach to global challenges through diplomacy and mutual respect.
