ADDIS ABABA (Khyber Mail): Ethiopia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral trade and commerce ties during a high-level meeting held at the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration in Addis Ababa.
The meeting was led by Ethiopia’s Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, H.E. Kassahun Gofe, and Pakistan’s Additional Secretary of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, who is currently visiting Ethiopia.
Discussions centered on deepening trade cooperation and identifying new opportunities to boost economic engagement between the two nations. Minister Kassahun highlighted the long-standing diplomatic and trade relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan, emphasizing the untapped potential of closer collaboration.
“We have taken a common understanding that if the two countries work together with their population and production potential, we can achieve better mutual results,” the Ethiopian Trade Minister remarked.
To further strengthen ties, the Ethiopian side assured its full support for Pakistan’s proposed Single Country Exhibition, set to be held in Addis Ababa in May 2025. The exhibition aims to showcase Pakistan’s products and services to Ethiopian businesses and consumers.
Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan lauded Ethiopia’s impressive export trade performance and expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to work closely with Ethiopia to boost trade volumes and mutual economic benefits.
This meeting builds on the momentum of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed a day earlier for bilateral political consultation, reflecting the two nations’ growing partnership in multiple areas.
With a shared vision of cooperation, Ethiopia and Pakistan aim to strengthen trade relations and explore new avenues for mutual growth and prosperity.
