Peshawar (Agencies): In a effort to boost economic growth and empower youth, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, and the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) have partnered to launch an ambitious training program. A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed by key stakeholders to officially commence the initiative, aimed at enhancing technical and entrepreneurial skills among the province’s youth.

The program, backed by IFAD Pakistan, targets 60,000 individuals, including women, with training in technical skills, entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, digital literacy, and soft skills. This initiative promises to prepare participants for competitive job markets and foster entrepreneurial ventures.

Fernanda Thomaz Da Rocha, Country Head for IFAD Pakistan, emphasized the importance of the partnership, highlighting its role in rural youth and women empowerment, economic transformation, and skills development. “We are proud to contribute to creating real opportunities for young people and driving inclusive growth,” she stated.

Representatives from KP Rural Economic Transformation Project (KP-RETP), KP Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (KP-TEVTA), and UET Peshawar expressed their commitment to ensuring the program’s success. Vice Chancellor Dr. Qaisar Ali remarked on the university’s role in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application, enabling participants to thrive in today’s competitive economy.

Abdul Karim Khan Tordher, KP Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, applauded the collaboration as a vital step toward sustainable development and long-term economic opportunities for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s youth.

The initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in building a skilled workforce while supporting economic growth, particularly benefiting rural communities and women. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in empowering the youth and fostering self-sustainability across the region.
