Islamabad (Adnan Hameed): The Hashoo Foundation, in collaboration with Sunbeams, has launched the transformative Pakistan 100 for 100 Movement (PK100), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at ensuring universal access to education for every child in Pakistan by 2047, the country’s centennial year.
As the technical lead partner, Hashoo Foundation builds on over 30 years of efforts to promote inclusive education, marking a pivotal step toward addressing the national education crisis. The initiative will begin as a pilot project in Islamabad, employing a phased approach from the Union Council level to a district-wide model. This strategy aims to create a replicable framework for nationwide implementation.
The launch event in Islamabad gathered prominent dignitaries, including Murtaza Hashwani, Deputy Chairman and CEO of Hashoo Group and Chairman of Hashoo Foundation; Haris Qayyum Khan, CEO of Hashoo Foundation; and Ainee Nasir Jamy, Founder and Chairperson of Sunbeams, alongside policymakers, academics, and government officials.
Speaking at the event, Haris Qayyum Khan stated, “The Pakistan 100 for 100 Movement is a natural extension of Hashoo Foundation’s mission to leverage knowledge as capital for socio-economic uplift. PK100 represents a major leap forward in achieving our vision of an inclusive and equitable education system.”
Murtaza Hashwani emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the foundation’s legacy of empowering communities. He remarked, “This project is particularly close to my heart as it continues our decades-long commitment to education and investing in youth, the leaders of tomorrow.”
Ainee Nasir Jamy highlighted the urgency of addressing Pakistan’s education challenges. She noted, “With over 25 million children aged 5–16 out of school, Pakistan ranks as the second-largest nation globally with out-of-school children. This crisis demands systemic reforms, infrastructural development, and targeted interventions like the Pakistan 100 for 100 Movement.”
The movement aligns with the government’s declaration of a national education emergency and aspires to not only enroll out-of-school children but also to create a sustainable and equitable education model for future generations.
PK100 aims to serve as a catalyst for reform, bridging gaps in access, resources, and infrastructure to ensure a brighter, educated future for Pakistan.
