Mardan (Khyber Mail): Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has reached a significant milestone by obtaining accreditation from the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Council (NAEAC) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad for all four of its specialized programs in Agricultural Sciences. The accredited programs include B.Sc (Hons) in Agronomy, Entomology, Food Science & Technology, and Horticulture, each receiving the prestigious ‘X’ category rating. Previously, only the Department of Entomology had been accredited in Agricultural Sciences. This accreditation follows a rigorous inspection by the NAEAC team of experts on July 3, 2024.

This achievement positions AWKUM as the second university in the province, after Agriculture University Peshawar, to attain accreditation for all its specialized agricultural programs. The accreditation underscores the university’s dedication to academic excellence, innovative research, and the production of high-quality graduates in the agricultural field.

The accreditation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the faculty, staff, students, and administration at AWKUM, showcasing the university’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of education and research. The efforts and support of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Life Sciences Prof. Zahid Hussain, and Registrar Mr. Hassan Khan are commendable in achieving this milestone. As a recognized leader in agricultural education, AWKUM will continue its pursuit of excellence in shaping the future of agriculture in Pakistan.
