Karak (Khyber Mail): The 1st International Conference on Indigenous Languages, Literature, and Heritage, themed “Bridging the Past with the Future: Preserve, Revive, Celebrate,” commenced at Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak. Organized by the Center for Applied Studies and Research (CASR) in collaboration with the university, the hybrid multilingual conference will continue through April 22, 2025, bringing together scholars, researchers, and cultural enthusiasts from across the globe.

The inaugural ceremony was honored by the Vice Chancellor of Khushal Khan Khattak University, Prof. Dr. Naseer Ud Din, who highlighted the importance of preserving indigenous languages and cultural heritage amidst the challenges of globalization. He underscored the role of academic gatherings like this in fostering dialogue, research, and collaborative efforts to safeguard these cultural assets for future generations.

Dr. Fasih Ur Rehman, Director of Academics and Research, welcomed participants to the conference and stressed the significance of the event’s theme in the context of the region’s rich cultural tapestry. He expressed hope that the conference would generate actionable strategies for preserving and revitalizing indigenous heritage.

Featuring keynote addresses by esteemed scholars such as Zubair Torwali, Dr. Muhammad Waqas Sajjad, Dr. Maria Isabel Maldonado-Garcia, Mr. Muhammad Hamza Mirasi, Dr. Yasir Hussain, Asmat Ullah Damaili, Dr. Abdus Samad Kakahel, Dr. Mirza Qasim Baba, Dr. Amjad Saleem, and Dr. Abdul Hakim, the conference promises to offer valuable insights into the preservation and promotion of indigenous languages, literature, and heritage.

The landmark event aims to foster collaboration, facilitate knowledge-sharing, and celebrate the world’s diverse cultural legacy. It represents a significant step forward in recognizing and preserving the rich linguistic and literary traditions of the region and beyond.
