Karak (Khyber Mail): Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak celebrated World Book and Copyright Day with a vibrant event organized by its Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS), highlighting the importance of reading and intellectual property rights in modern academia and society.

Students, faculty members, and notable guests attended the ceremony, which aimed to foster a deeper appreciation for literature and knowledge. Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan, Chairman of DLIS, opened the event by urging students to embrace the lifelong habit of reading, noting its timeless role in personal and societal growth. He drew inspiration from the historical Bait ul Hikmat (House of Wisdom), established under Caliph Harun ur Rashid, as a model of intellectual excellence and scholarly pursuit.

Anwar Jalal Khattak, Chief Librarian at the Directorate of Archives and Libraries, served as the chief guest. In his keynote address, he highlighted the global relevance of World Book and Copyright Day and emphasized the need to protect literary works and uphold intellectual property rights in the digital age.

The event concluded with a symbolic walk across the campus, demonstrating the university community’s collective commitment to promoting literacy, the culture of reading, and the safeguarding of knowledge.
