PESHAWAR (Khyber Mail): The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated the first phase of its recruitment process for 16,454 teaching positions. Written examinations, organized by the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA), are set to begin on April 12, 2025. Over 80,000 candidates are expected to compete for 896 vacancies in the first phase across three teaching cadres.

According to officials, 109 vacancies for CT-IT have attracted 26,746 candidates, 494 positions for Arabic Teachers have received 30,716 applications, and 293 Qari/Qaria positions have 32,818 hopefuls. The exams will be conducted on April 12 and 13 at 20 centers across the province, with ETEA completing all arrangements to ensure a fair and transparent process.

To maintain order and safeguard the integrity of the examinations, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has imposed Section 144 at all exam centers. This measure aims to prevent any unauthorized or suspicious activities. District administrations have deployed monitoring teams of senior officers to oversee the examination process, while the police have implemented a comprehensive security plan. Security personnel, including female officers, will be stationed at entry points, and advanced surveillance equipment will ensure smooth operations. Special Branch officers have also been assigned to enhance security.

In a video message, ETEA Executive Director Adil Saeed Safi encouraged candidates to rely on their talent and preparation while warning against any attempts to cheat or disrupt the process. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies are on high alert and that violations will result in strict action.

The recruitment process is seen as a significant step toward addressing the province’s educational needs and providing merit-based opportunities for aspiring teachers. Further updates are expected as the process unfolds.
