Peshawar (Khyber Mail): The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has taken a major step towards financial transparency and governance efficiency with the launch of an Integrated IT Portal for Public Sector Entities. The initiative aims to enforce strict financial discipline, ensure transparency in public funds utilization, and improve service delivery across the province.

Developed with technical support from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)-funded Sub-National Governance (SNG) Programme, the portal will oversee the financial and operational performance of 181 public sector entities in KP. Featuring real-time financial indicators, interactive dashboards, and automated reporting, it will enable the Corporate Governance Unit (CGU) of the Finance Department to monitor and manage fiscal activities more effectively.

The official launch ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, with Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur as the chief guest. Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance, Muzammil Aslam, senior officials from various departments, and representatives from partner organizations also attended the event.

With KP housing 183 public sector entities—including universities, teaching hospitals, municipal service units, and other government organizations—the portal is now mandatory for all such institutions. The initiative makes KP the first province in Pakistan to introduce a centralized system for financial oversight, ensuring better decision-making and governance.

During the event, the first-ever Service Delivery Performance Monitoring Report was also presented. Initially piloted in three departments, the monitoring framework has now been expanded to all government departments. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of budget execution and service delivery performance, offering key insights into efficiency, resource allocation, and strategic development goals.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, in his address, congratulated the authorities on the launch and directed all institutions to fully implement the system by July 1, 2025, warning of strict action against non-compliance. He emphasized that technology-driven governance reforms were long overdue and highlighted his administration’s swift progress in digital transformation since taking office.

The Chief Minister also underscored the broader fiscal improvements under his leadership, including a PKR 169 billion surplus budget, the creation of a Debt Management Fund with an initial PKR 30 billion (targeting PKR 150 billion), the restoration of the Sehat Card health insurance program, and increased funding for welfare initiatives and education scholarships.

“This money was always there, but it was being misallocated. Through improved financial management and monitoring, we have redirected these funds for the benefit of the province and its people,” he stated.

Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance Muzammil Aslam, Finance Secretary Amir Sultan Tareen, and representatives from international partner organizations also praised the initiative, calling it a significant step toward efficient governance and financial accountability in KP.
