ISLAMABAD (Agencies): In his first official visit to Pakistan, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Asghar Khan bin Goriman Khan, the Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, the Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Friday at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

The meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest, including military cooperation, joint training, and collaboration in the industrial sector. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) presented a Guard of Honour to General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Asghar Khan upon his arrival.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Sidhu welcomed the visiting dignitary and highlighted the strong bilateral defence ties between Pakistan and Malaysia. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in training, joint exercises, and technology sharing to strengthen the partnership between the two air forces. The Air Chief also reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing cooperation in air power through joint training initiatives, which will cover both basic and tactical-level training for RMAF personnel.

General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Asghar Khan expressed his admiration for the technological advancements and indigenization achievements of the Pakistan Air Force. He commended Pakistan’s efforts in advancing its military capabilities through self-reliance and innovation.

During his visit, General Asghar Khan was particularly impressed by the state-of-the-art technologies at the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park (NASTP) and the projects showcased at the PAF pavilion at the ongoing International Defence Exhibition IDEAS-2024.

The visiting dignitary also toured key installations and technological infrastructure at Air Headquarters, including the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre and the PAF Cyber Command, where he was briefed on PAF’s operational capabilities.

The visit signals a strong commitment from both countries to enhance military collaboration, improve training, and promote strategic partnerships to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia.
