Islamabad (Agencies): The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported that the River Chenab is likely to experience a medium flood within the next 24 hours. Additionally, medium to high-level flows are expected in the nullahs within the catchments of the Ravi and Chenab rivers.

Currently, the River Indus is experiencing a medium flood in the Taunsa-Guddu reach and a low flood in the Tarbela-Kalabagh reach and at Sukkur Barrage. The River Kabul is also in a low flood state at Nowshera. Other major rivers in the Indus River System, including the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej, are discharging normal flows.

The combined live storage of the country’s major reservoirs (Tarbela, Mangla, and Chashma) stands at 10.353 million acre-feet (MAF), which is 77.53% of the total live storage capacity of 13.354 MAF.

The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) in Lahore has indicated that scattered to widespread thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rain, and isolated very heavy falls, are expected over the upper catchments of all major rivers and Islamabad in the next 24 hours. Similar weather conditions are anticipated in various divisions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
