Islamabad (Agencies): The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), in collaboration with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), has launched a cutting-edge mobile application, ‘Raahguzar,’ aimed at digitizing Pakistan’s oil supply chain.
The app, powered by Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, allows users to locate legal petrol pumps and outlets nationwide. It also provides a platform for consumers, district governments, and law enforcement agencies to report illegal fuel stations, overcharging, or substandard fuel quality.
The launch ceremony, held at OGRA’s head office in Islamabad, was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), FBR, Customs, the Explosives Department, OCAC, and the Oil Marketing Association of Pakistan (OMAP). Chairman OGRA, Masroor Khan, and Member Oil and Finance presided over the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Masroor Khan described the initiative as transformative. “The journey to digitize Pakistan’s oil supply chain began in August 2024 during discussions between OGRA and FBR. The ‘Raahguzar’ app represents the first phase of a broader track-and-trace system designed to enhance accountability, curb economic leakages, and eliminate illegal activities in the oil sector,” he stated.
Khan emphasized that the app would be a game-changer in tackling challenges such as illegal petrol pumps and malpractices, ultimately contributing to the oil sector’s growth and sustainability. He also highlighted the app’s role in fostering a transparent and accountable energy ecosystem.
The app is available for download, and further details can be accessed through OGRA’s official website or helpline. The launch of ‘Raahguzar’ demonstrates OGRA’s commitment to leveraging technology for effective governance and enhancing public trust in Pakistan’s energy sector.
