Karachi (Khyber Mail): K-Electric’s Energy Progress & Innovation Challenge (EPIC) 2025 has officially wrapped up its submission phase, attracting more than 250 entries from across Pakistan. The enthusiastic response underscores the country’s growing spirit of innovation and commitment to transforming its energy landscape.
Launched in March, EPIC 2025 built on the momentum of KE’s earlier 7/11+ Innovation Challenge, inviting entrepreneurs, startups, researchers, and academic minds to tackle key challenges in the power sector. Participants proposed cutting-edge solutions across predefined and open innovation themes, including real-time fleet tracking, AI-driven demand forecasting, battery energy storage systems (BESS), smart grid monitoring, transformer failure prediction, and tamper-proof loadshedding mechanisms.
Expressing his appreciation, Moonis Alvi, CEO of K-Electric, stated:
“The overwhelming response to EPIC 2025 affirms our belief in the potential of Pakistan’s innovators to reimagine the future of energy. We’re proud to provide a platform that fosters fresh ideas and look forward to working with participants on solutions that can truly impact the power sector and our communities.”
Sadia Dada, KE’s Chief Distribution & Marcomms Officer, echoed this sentiment, saying:
“EPIC is more than just a competition—it’s a movement for a smarter, more inclusive, and sustainable energy ecosystem. The diversity and depth of submissions reflect the dedication and vision of Pakistan’s innovation community.”
The next stage of the challenge includes a comprehensive evaluation phase, during which shortlisted entries will undergo mentoring and present their ideas to a panel of experts. Finalists will compete for a PKR 3 million prize pool, along with the potential for a B2B collaboration with KE to scale and implement their innovations.
With EPIC 2025, K-Electric continues to reaffirm its commitment to fostering technological advancement, sustainability, and local innovation in Pakistan’s evolving energy sector.
