Phnom Penh (Khyber Mail): Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan’s visit to Cambodia marked a historic step toward enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations. In a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet, both leaders emphasized the potential for collaboration in trade, investment, and diplomacy.
Minister Jam Kamal Khan expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to the Pakistani delegation, highlighting the importance of deepening ties through business-to-business (B2B) engagement. He invited Prime Minister Hun Manet to visit Pakistan and advocated for the establishment of a Cambodian resident mission in Islamabad to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations.
Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the visit and praised the successful signing of the agreed minutes of the inaugural Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting between Pakistan and Cambodia. He identified textiles and healthcare as priority sectors for initial collaboration and emphasized Cambodia’s interest in strengthening defense ties.
“The recent visit of a high-level Cambodian defense delegation to Pakistan demonstrates our commitment to fostering cooperation in strategic areas,” said Prime Minister Hun Manet, adding that efforts to establish a Cambodian mission in Islamabad are already underway.
Both sides acknowledged the opportunities created by global shifts in trade and investment and stressed the importance of exploring untapped potential. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing mutual interests, fostering people-to-people connections, and prioritizing sectors that can bring immediate benefits to both nations.
