Lahore (Agencies): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has grounded the cockpit crew of Airbus A320 flight PK-150 after it mistakenly landed on the wrong runway at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore.
The flight, originally scheduled from Dammam to Multan, was diverted to Lahore due to heavy fog in Multan. Upon arrival, the aircraft landed on runway 36L instead of the designated main runway, despite the fact that runway 36L’s lights were reportedly turned off at the time.
PIA management has initiated disciplinary action, grounding the captain and first officer pending the outcome of a detailed investigation. A PIA spokesperson confirmed that a full inquiry is underway to determine the reasons behind this serious breach of protocol.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns over flight safety measures during adverse weather conditions, with aviation experts calling for stricter adherence to landing procedures. This latest incident adds to PIA’s ongoing operational challenges, highlighting the importance of enhanced safety oversight to ensure passenger security.
