Karachi (Agencies): The Sindh government has announced a public holiday across the province on February 19 to commemorate the annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Muhammad Usman Marwandi, popularly known as Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
According to a notification issued by the Sindh government, the holiday will allow devotees to participate in the Urs celebrations, which will formally begin on February 17 in Sehwan Sharif.
A large number of devotees from across the country have already reached Sehwan Sharif to attend the Urs celebrations. The streets of Sehwan Sharif are currently flooded with devotees wearing the symbolic red and black dresses associated with the event.
Strict security arrangements have been ensured to avoid any untoward incidents during the celebrations.
