Peshawar (Khyber Mail): The closing ceremony of the much-anticipated UET Peshawar Inter-Faculty Cricket Tournament 2025 took place today at the Video Conference Hall, UET Peshawar. The two-day tournament saw vibrant participation from four faculties: the Faculty of Civil, Agricultural and Mining Engineering (FCAM), the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FECI), the Faculty of Mechanical, Chemical and Industrial Engineering (FMCI), and the Faculty of Architecture, Allied Sciences, and Humanities (FAASH).
In a thrilling final match, FMCI emerged as the champion, defeating FAASH, which took the runner-up position. FCAM grabbed 3rd place after defeating FECI. Prof. Dr. Qaisar Ali, Vice Chancellor of UET Peshawar, was declared the man of the tournament, while Dr. Zeeshan Zahir was declared the man of the match for the final.
The event concluded with the distribution of trophies by Prof. Dr. Qaisar Ali, who lauded the tournament for providing a platform for faculty members to demonstrate their skills and sportsmanship. The Vice Chancellor directed the Director of Sports to organize Inter-University and Inter-Campus tournaments in the near future. He emphasized that faculty should take full advantage of such opportunities and participate in sports competitions, as sports are an important part of our lives that enhance physical and mental abilities.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Chairman of the Sports Committee, Prof. Dr. Rizwan M. Gul, Dr. Farid Ullah Khan, Chief Organizer of the tournament, Mr. Muhammad Ali, Director of Sports, and the volunteers of the UET Sports Society for organizing such a successful event. He also paid tribute to Prof. Dr. Amjad Ali, Dean of FAASH, on his retirement, who led the FAASH team in the tournament.
Earlier, Prof. Dr. Rizwan M. Gul and Dr. Farid Ullah Khan highlighted that the administration of UET Peshawar is well aware of the importance of sports. They emphasized that efforts are being made to provide the best sports opportunities to both students and faculty, as sports are essential for enhancing mental and physical abilities.
