Peshawar (Khyber Mail): A graduation ceremony celebrating the completion of the Pedagogy of Care course took place on April 28 at the Area Study Centre, University of Peshawar. The event honored 35 refugee teachers who successfully finished an eight-month training program designed to integrate care and empathy into teaching for refugee schools.

This transformative program, a collaborative effort between the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), mamaged by FIT-ED and ETI, Right to Learn, and the University of Peshawar, combined online and face-to-face Networked Improvement Communities (NICs). Facilitated by University of Peshawar educators and supervised by Dr. Muhammad Ali Dinakhel, the program included equal participation from Pakistani and Afghan nationals selected from UNHCR-supported refugee schools managed by IDEA.

Certificates were awarded by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qazi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar, who lauded the efforts of the project team and commended the teachers for their dedication to enhancing refugee education. Officials from various educational organizations and university departments attended the ceremony, praising the program’s positive impact.

By focusing on compassionate teaching methodologies, the Pedagogy of Care initiative sets a benchmark for improving education for displaced Afghan students, addressing both their academic and emotional needs. This success highlights the significance of collaborative efforts in advancing refugee education in Pakistan.
