Kazan, Russia – In a significant development, Pakistan and Turkey are set to formally join the BRICS group during the upcoming summit in Kazan, scheduled from October 22 to 24, 2024.
This expansion marks a notable shift in the geopolitical landscape, as BRICS continues to grow its influence by incorporating new members.
The inclusion of Pakistan and Turkey follows a decision by the founding BRICS members—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—to expand the group.
This move aims to enhance cooperation among emerging economies and strengthen their collective voice on the global stage.
Turkish President and Pakistani Prime Minister are expected to attend the summit, where they will participate in discussions on economic collaboration, trade, and regional security.
Erdogan’s attendance is particularly noteworthy as Turkey will become the first NATO member to join BRICS.
The Kazan summit will also see the formal induction of other new members, including Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, starting January 1, 2024.
This expansion underscores BRICS’ commitment to fostering inclusive growth and addressing global challenges through multilateral cooperation.
