Islamabad (Agencies): The Pakistan Navy is set to enhance its maritime patrol capabilities with the induction of the first Embraer Lineage 1000 aircraft, modified by Leonardo and Paramount Aerospace Systems, scheduled for 2026.
This initiative is part of the Sea Sultan project, aimed at replacing the aging P-3C Orion fleet.
The modified aircraft will feature advanced technologies, including electronic support measures/electronic intelligence (ESM/ELINT) sensors, an electro-optical turret, active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, satellite communications, and torpedo/sonobuoy/depth charge launchers.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, highlighted that the new aircraft will significantly enhance the Navy’s range, endurance, anti-submarine warfare, and anti-surface vessel capabilities.
The Sea Sultan project represents a major step towards modernizing Pakistan’s naval aviation and ensuring superior maritime surveillance and defense.
