Islamabad, Pakistan (Agencies): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of its twice-weekly flights between Islamabad and Paris starting January 10, 2025. This comes after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) lifted a ban on PIA that had been in place since 2020.
The flights will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays using Boeing 777 aircraft, and bookings for these flights opened on December 7, 2024. This marks PIA’s return to European skies after more than four years1. The airline had faced a significant financial loss due to the ban, estimated at around $144 million annually.
PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan stated, “We have received approval for the first flight schedule we submitted.” He also mentioned that PIA plans to approach the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) to resume routes to London, Manchester, and Birmingham once approval is granted.
The resumption of these flights is expected to boost Pakistan’s connectivity with Europe and provide more travel options for passengers.
