MOSCOW (Agencies): Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed that an additional oil pipeline could accompany the planned mega gas pipeline from Russia to China.
The proposed Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline is nearing completion, set to transport up to 50 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Russia’s Yamal Region to China via Mongolia.
Putin suggested that an oil pipeline could run alongside the gas route, potentially providing an alternative conduit for Russia’s oil supply to China.
While negotiations continue, Russia has already become China’s largest oil supplier, with Beijing taking advantage of discounted Russian oil imports in 2023.
The project aims to strengthen energy ties between the two nations and diversify transportation options.
